Scenic Golfing

Dairy Creek Golf Course is one of the public courses in San Luis Obispo County. It is relatively new, created on property that was once a dairy farm. It's fun to play, and has great views and wildlife. You nearly always see wild turkeys. The following is a link to a beautiful slide show of the wildlife at Dairy Creek and surrounding areas.

Class of 1960

I graduated from high school in 1960 from Henryetta High School in Henryetta, Oklahoma. We're having our 50th class reunion next year! How time flies. I've started a blog to help celebrate this moment0us occasion - check it out.

Looking back, the 50's were a pretty good time to be growing up!

Beautiful August Sunset

We drove down to Nipomo today to attend a friend's 70th birthday party. It was a rare summer day - cloudy and cool. There was even a little rain - enough to wet down the streets. I think it's coming from a storm down in Mexico. This evening there was a gorgeous sunset - I ran into the house to get my camera - barely caught the orangey sky. Didn't notice at first that there was a deer having a bite to eat in our yard - his eyes light up in the picture below - looks a little spooky!

Julie & Julia

Friday afternoon at the movies. Enjoyed "Julie & Julia" - Meryl Streep was amusing as Julia Child. The movie almost made me want to return home and cook.....almost. Enjoyed the movie, though.

Feathered Friends

We enjoy feeding our feathered friends and watching their antics. The hummers are going through 2 feeders every other day. The acorn woodpeckers have discovered the peanuts we put out on the bird house. They compete with the bluejays for the nuts.

Birthday Wallhanging

My daughter's birthday is in August, so I made her a birthday wallhanging. Since she has an August birthday, she's a Leo, but I also added her Chinese horoscope sign, the monkey.

Sunflower Postcards

My latest postcard trade was to make a fabric postcard based on a photo or picture. I chose a photo I took last summer of a giant sunflower in my garden. Here are two cards I've made so far....I have one more to go.

August Moon

I was working on my computer last night and looked up and saw this lovely moon peeping above the clouds. I thought that the colors reflecting from the setting sun were so beautiful on the clouds. I must admit I did a little "tweaking" in Photoshop to enhance the colors a bit, but Mother Nature did a pretty good job!

CAN you make a postcard from a CAN?

Yes, you CAN. Here are some cards I made for a trade on Fabric Art Traders. We were to use aluminum cans. So here's what I came up with for my cards. It's actually quite easy to sew through the aluminum. This takes recycling one step further, don't you think!
