A Walk Along Moonstone Beach

We enjoyed a walk on the boardwalk along Moonstone Beach in Cambria the other day. Mom rode her scooter and was snug and warm in her new leopard "Snuggie". Cambria is one of our favorite places to visit when Kristen is here!

It was cloudy, but not too cold,

The boardwalk goes for about a mile or so along the beach,

and there are several places where you can walk down to the beach to check out the tide pools or just walk on the beach.

Time to head for the car and some lunch!

Fish on a Stick

It's always fun to have lunch at Giovanni's in Morro Bay. You don't have to have "fish on a stick". But you could if you wanted to!

And it's always fun to have my daughter, Kristen visiting from snowy, cold Denver, Colorado. No, we didn't plan to dress in red and black, it just happened.

The surfers were out.

As well as the otters.

And these guys are always ready for a hand-out.

Merry Christmas from DAnna and Santa. Actually, this Santa doesn't look too creepy. However, if you want to see some weird looking santas, check out the following site: http://www.sketchysantas.com/

After the Rain

I know some people (you know who you are!) think that it's always sunny in California , but that is so not true! As a matter of fact, we have had a week of rainy, cloudy weather, which was wonderful! The parched countryside soaked in about 4" of beautiful rain this week. I took a few minutes this morning to take some photos of the hillside behind our house. The small creek is usually dry, but this morning there was water gurgurling down it. Most of the trees on the hillside are various kinds of oaks, and when they lose their leaves, the moss really stands out.

But my very favorite tree is the Pacific Madrone, an evergreen tree with a beautiful smooth reddish bark. This time of year the contrast of the reddish bark, silvery moss and leaves is beautiful.

Okay, enough rain already....where's that sunshine!

Kitty Gets Komfortable - A Play in One Act

Setting: The windowseat in the breakfast nook.

DAnna, "Isn't it amazing how cats can find the most comfortable spot upon which to rest? WAIT! THOSE ARE MY PLACEMATS! GET YOUR FURRY SELF OFF MY PLACEMATS!" Casey, "I thought someone was speaking to me, but I guess I was wrong."
The End

Epilogue: Cats will sit wherever they wish. The placemats will be washed before using.

A Trip to San Francisco

Saturday we got up bright and early (5:00 am) and drove up to San Francisco to spend some time with the kids. We started off the day by going to Grant's 1st basketball game of the season.

After the game, we went to lunch, then went shopping for a Christmas tree! Denise & Tim found the perfect one!
I also picked out a wreath for their front door.

Then we went back to Denise & Tim's house and spent the afternoon and evening playing games and having fun crafting (actually, the guys watched football on tv!) Hayden took a nap.

The next morning, I got up and took a walk down to the Marina. I walked around the Palace of Fine Arts, which was built for the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915.

There were lots of birds enjoying the lagoon in front of the Palace of Fine Arts.

I always take a photo (or two) of the Golden Gate Bridge. That sunny spot on the hill was caused by.........

this break in the clouds.

Then we met the grandkids for breakfast at Mel's.

And took a little drive to the crooked street, where we saw this cable car,

a view of Alcatraz

and views of Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge.

We went to visit Helena's school (she started 1st grade this year), and this is a view from the playground at her school.
